Letter, 1916 Jul. 10, Northampton, Mass., to Henry G. Wells. Coolidge writes concerning legislation pertraining to the "elevated law" (elevated trains) and the pay of senators and representatives. The letter is on official stationery of the Lieutenant Governor, State House, Boston -- Letter, 1923 Aug. 9, The White House, Washington, to Charles H. Allen. The letter, on mourning stationery (with black borders), thanks Allen for his note that "has given me help and encouragement." Coolidge has just assumed the presidency following the death of Warren G. Harding on Aug. 2, 1923.
